The arms were officially granted on May 8, 1984. The abie (Tanne) is a canting element. The left part shows the banner of Austria as the Dukes of Austria, as Counts of Tyrol, acquired the area in late medieval times and made Tannheim one of their local capitals.
Deutsch: Blasonierung:„In Silber (Weiß) eine grüne Tanne, am linken Schildrand zwei rote Stäbe (Pfähle).“
Das Wappen wurde der Gemeinde von der Tiroler Landesregierung am 8. Mai 1984 verliehen. Die Tanne ist "redend". Die Farben Österreichs erinnern daran, dass die Herzöge von Österreich als Tiroler Landesfürsten um die Wende zur Neuzeit das ganze Tannheimer Tal erworben und als Anwaltschaft mit Tannheim als Hauptort zu einem Bestandteil des Tiroler Gerichtes Ehrenberg gemacht haben.
