Object history
Deutsch: Die Gemeinde Bad Bellingen ist durch Vereinigung von Bad Bellingen, Bamlach, Hertingen und Rheinweiler am 1. Januar 1975 entstanden. Das zusammen mit der Flagge vom Landratsamt Lörrach am 8. Dezember 1978 verliehene Wappen wurde unter dem Gesichtspunkt geschaffen, Charakteristika der Gesamtgemeinde darzustellen. Der Wellenbalken symbolisiert den Rhein, der die Westgrenze der Gemarkung bildet, die Traube den in allen Ortsteilen betriebenen Weinbau. Die heutige Bedeutung Bad Bellingens beruht auf der Nutzung seiner Thermen. Die Thermalwasservorkommen wurden bei Suchbohrungen nach Erdöl in den Jahren 1952 bis 1955 entdeckt. Aus bescheidenen Anfängen entwickelte sich ein beachtlicher Kurbetrieb. Das ehemalige Fischer- und Winzerdorf Bellingen wurde zum Heilbad, was zur Verleihung des Prädikats „Bad" im Oktober 1969 führte. Die Fontäne im Wappen bringt diese Tatsache zum Ausdruck.
