Object history
Deutsch: Das Wappen ist 1908 nach dem Vorbild des Ebringer Vogteisiegels des 15. Jahrhunderts geschaffen worden. Nach einer Berichtigung der Tingierung wurde es zusammen mit der Flagge am 7. Juli 1966 vom Innenministerium verliehen. Das an einer Urkunde von 1471 überlieferte Vogteisiegel ist sicher vom Wappen der Herren von Hornberg abgeleitet, die bis 1458 die Vogtei über den sanktgallischen Ort ausübten. Zusätzlich zum hornbergischen Wappen ist darin das Rebmesser aufgenommen, ob als allgemeines Symbol für den seit dem frühen 8. Jahrhundert nachweisbaren Weinbau im Ort oder als Ortszeichen, lässt sich nicht mehr feststellen. Vom Weinbau hergeleitete Zeichen verwendete Ebringen auch sonst: Grenzsteine des 18. Jahrhunderts sind unter anderem mit einem Weinstock markiert, und die Gerichtssiegel des 19. Jahrhunderts zeigten in einem von Blumengirlanden umrahmten Schild ebenfalls einen Weinstock.
