Object history
Deutsch: Die Gemeinde wurde am 1. Januar 1975 durch Vereinigung von Friedenweiler und Rötenbach gebildet. Als selbstständige Gemeinde bestand das ehemalige Friedenweiler erst seit der Säkularisation des Zisterzienserinnenklosters gleichen Namens und der Neugliederung der ehemaligen Klostergemarkung im Jahre 1804. Friedenweiler und Rötenbach gehörten bis 1806 zur fürstenbergischen Landgrafschaft Baar, worauf der silbern-blaue Wolkenbord aus dem fürstenbergischen Wappen im Gemeindewappen hindeutet, das am 12. Mai 1981 vom Landratsamt Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald verliehen worden ist. Die Kirche erinnert an das ehemalige Frauenkloster, dessen Kirche und Konventsgebäude heute noch das Ortsbild prägen. Die Pflugschar ist das alte Ortszeichen Rötenbachs. Sie zierte die Gemeindesiegel des 19. Jahrhunderts und wurde auch in dem im Jahre 1909 geschaffenen Gemeindewappen Rötenbachs geführt.
