Object history
Deutsch: Das Wappen wurde im Jahre 1900 vom Generallandesarchiv im Einklang mit der alten Siegeltradition Friesenheims gestaltet. Das älteste Siegel von Schultheiß und Gericht ist seit 1516 fassbar. Es enthält wie fast alle späteren Stempel in einem Wappenschild gestürzte Pflugschar und Winzermesser nebeneinander. Auf einem Brunnenstock von 1548 sind beide Zeichen im Wappenschild vertauscht. Das auf der Huldigungsliste von 1811 aufgedruckte „gewöhnliche Ortssigill" zeigt allerdings das badische Wappen als Schräglinksbalken, der oben von der Pflugschar, unten vom Winzermesser begleitet wird. Die Gemeinde behielt das Wappen auch nach der Eingliederung von Heiligenzell, Oberschopfheim und Oberweier (1972) und Schuttern (1975) unverändert bei, 1976 wurde jedoch das bisher in „natürlichen" Farben gehaltene Winzermesser silbern tingiert. Am 8. August 1977 verlieh das Landratsamt Ortenaukreis die Flagge.
