Object history
Deutsch: Der in der zweiten Hälfte des 14. Jahrhunderts erstmals als „zuo dem hofe" erwähnte Ort ist eine spätmittelalterliche Gründung und gehörte zur Herrschaft Neuenbürg der Grafen von Vaihingen. Über verschiedene Zwischenbesitzer kam Höfen 1315/1320 mit Neuenbürg an Württemberg. Erst 1799 wurde Höfen selbständige Gemeinde. Das Wappen wird gemäß einem Vorschlag der Archivdirektion Stuttgart seit 1907 geführt. Der Zinnenturm soll auf das Wappen der Stadt Neuenbürg (siehe dort) und damit auf die Zugehörigkeit Höfens zur Herrschaft und zum späteren württembergischen Amt Neuenbürg anspielen, die Giebelhäuser sollen Höfe darstellen und damit „redend" den Ortsnamen symbolisieren. Die Flagge wurde am 2. Juli 1958 vom Innenministerium verliehen.
