Object history
Deutsch: Traube und Rebmesser als Symbole des seit dem Mittelalter bedeutenden Weinbaus des Ortes trifft man schon in den Siegeln der Ihringer Schultheißen im frühen 15. Jahrhundert an. Bereits das älteste, seit 1480 nachweisbare Gerichtssiegel enthält wie alle späteren Stempel der Gemeinde den gespaltenen Schild mit dem Schrägbalken sowie Traube und Rebmesser in der noch heute gebräuchlichen Anordnung. Der Schrägbalken ist das Zeichen der Ortsherrschaft, die die Markgrafen von Baden seit 1414 innehatten. Das gleiche Wappen wurde auch im 18. Jahrhundert zur Kennzeichnung der Marksteine verwendet. Nachdem man erst 1965 die Tingierung endgültig festgelegt hatte, wurden Wappen und Flagge am 12. Juli desselben Jahres vom Innenministerium offiziell verliehen. Das Wappen behielt seine Aussagekraft auch nach der Eingemeindung des Winzerdorfs Wasenweiler am 1. Juli 1974.
