Object history
Deutsch: In den aus dem 16. Jahrhundert stammenden Stadtsiegeln von Kirchberg an der Jagst ist schon das jetzige Wappen zu sehen, in dem das Wappentier der hohenloheschen Stadtgründer die auf den Namen Kirchberg hinweisende Kirche hält. In Siegeln des 17. Jahrhunderts war die Kirche durch ein Zepter ersetzt, während im 19. und 20. Jh. zeitweilig ein einfaches „redendes" Wappen erschien. 1953 griff die frühere Stadt Kirchberg an der Jagst auf ihr ursprüngliches Wappen zurück und legte die hohenloheschen Hausfarben Rot und Weiß als Flaggenfarben fest. Die neue, nach zwei Eingliederungen im Jahr 1975 aus einer Vereinigung hervorgegangene Stadt nahm außer dem Namen auch die Wappen- und Flaggentraditionen ihrer Vorgängerin wieder auf. Das Wappen und die Flagge wurden vom Landratsamt am 31. Januar 1979 verliehen.
