Object history
Deutsch: Die Ruine Olbrück, Rest einer der größten, ältesten Höhenburg-Anlagen der Eifel, steht in der Gemarkung Niederdürenbach. Mit dem gut erhaltenen, mächtigen Bergfried auf einem Phonolitkegel hoch über dem Brohltal aufragend, prägt sie wesentlich das Landschaftsbild der Region.

Das Wappen der Waldbott von Bassenheim steht für den Besitz der Burg durch dieses Geschlecht über viele Generationen. Es findet sich auch in einigen Wappen der Nachbargemeinden wieder. Der Palmzweig steht als Märtyrersymbol für die HL. Thekla, die Schutzpatronin des Dorfes Niederdürenbach, die als erste christliche Märtyrerin in die Geschichte der christlichen Kirche einging. Für ihre Entscheidung zu einem Leben in Keuschheit wurde sie mit dem Feuertod bestraft.

Die Hirtenschaufel steht symbolisch für den Hl. Wendelinus, den Schutzpatron des Dorfes Hain, der ein Leben als Viehhüter wählte, um in Demut und Zurückgezogenheit sich den Heiligen Schriften und frommen Übungen widmen zu können.
