Object history
Deutsch: Ein Laubbaum, dessen Stamm mit dem Buchstaben Z überdeckt ist, ist im Schultheißenamtssiegel der Gemeinde seit 1928 nachzuweisen. In seiner jetzigen Gestalt wurde das Wappen im Jahre 1940 von der Archivdirektion Stuttgart festgelegt. Das Dienstsiegel der Gemeinde zeigte jedoch noch im Jahre 1956 den Laubbaum. Bestrebungen, das als nicht besonders aussagekräftig empfundene Wappenbild durch ein die historischen Besitz- und Herrschaftsverhältnisse widerspiegelndes Wappen zu ersetzen, zeitigten keinen Erfolg. Immerhin gibt die früher auch gebräuchliche Ortsnamensform Waldzimmern eine inhaltliche Rechtfertigung des Motivs. So wurden in Anbetracht einer gewissen Tradition das 1940 bestimmte Wappen und die Flagge am 26. Oktober 1967 vom Innenministerium verliehen. Seine Gültigkeit blieb durch die Eingemeindungen von Flözlingen, Horgen und Stetten ob Rottweil am 1. September 1973 unberührt.
