Object history
Deutsch: Wellenschildhaupt und Wellenbalken symbolisieren die Donau und die historisch bedeutende Donaufurt bei Großmehring. Über eine günstige Stelle der Donaudurchquerung bei Möringen berichtet die 26. Aventiure des Nibelungenliedes. Die Donaufurt bei Großmehring soll auch im 8. Jahrhundert von einem fränkischen Heer unter Karl Martell benutzt worden sein. Bei dem Adler handelt es sich um den so genannten Johannes-Adler, Attribut des Evangelisten Johannes, der in der Heraldik des Benediktinerinnenklosters in Neuburg a. d. Donau vorkommt. Er erinnert daran, dass das Kloster von 1007 bis 1542 als Grundherrschaft im Gemeindegebiet von Bedeutung war.
