  • Description: St. Matthias in Rodgau - Nieder-Roden. Am 27. September 1896 wurde das in neugotischem Stil erbaute dreischiffige Gotteshaus eingeweiht. Es ersetzte die 1298 geweihte erste Kirche. Bei diesem Erstbau wurde auch der alte gotische Wehrturm in den Kirchbau mit einbezogen. Er beherrscht bis auf den heutigen Tag das Ortsbild von Nieder-Roden und steht als ältestes Gebäude Rodgaus seit vielen Jahren unter Denkmalschutz. Der wertvolle Marienaltar (um 1520) wurde nach schweren Beschädigungen im Dreißigjährigen Krieg restauriert. Die 1900 von der Firma Schlimbach erbaute "romantische" Orgel der Matthiaskirche ist eine seltene Kostbarkeit, eine musikhistorische Rarität [1].
