Object history
Deutsch: Das am 27. Dezember 1979 vom Landratsamt Enzkreis verliehene Wappen vereinigt Bilder aus den ehemaligen Wappen von Birkenfeld und Gräfenhausen (eingemeindet 1972). Birkenfeld führte seit 1949 im Schildhaupt des Wappens die Kette mit Edelstein, die auf die Schmuckindustrie hinweist, und im Wappenfeld eine gestürzte Pflugschar, das schon in älteren Siegeln verwendete Ortszeichen. An die Stelle der Pflugschar ist nun der Eichenzweig von Gräfenhausen gesetzt, der in den Gemeindesiegeln als bloßes Schmuckelement und, in anderer Tingierung, schon vor 1930 als Wappenbild verwendet worden war. Die Flagge ist Birkenfeld bereits am 11. März 1964 vom Innenministerium verliehen und für die jetzige Gemeinde beibehalten worden.
