Deutsch: Der Eberrumpf ist "redend"; die Farben Schwarz und Gold erinnern an das Herzogtum Sachsen-Coburg, das 1525 nach der Aufhebung des Klosters Sonnefeld in den grundherrlichen Besitz des Amtes Sonnefeld kam, zu dem ein Großteil der gemeinde gehörte. Die Rosen stammen vom Wappen der früheren Gemeinde Frohnlach. Der rote Sparren weist auf die Herren von Sonneberg hin.
English: The boar-barrel is canting (boar means "Eber" in German); the colours are derived from the Duchy of Sachsen-Coburg, to whom most parts of municipality belonged to. The duchy aquired the area in 1525 after desintegration of the Sonnefeld monastery. The roses are derved from the arms of the former municipality of Frohnlach. The chevron is derived from the arms of the Lords of Sonnefeld.
