Object history
Deutsch: Am 1. April 1972 wurde die Gemeinde Illerkirchberg durch Vereinigung von Ober- und Unterkirchberg gebildet. Beide Gemeinden hatten bis dahin die schwarzhäutige, gekrönte, eine Mitra in der Rechten haltende Symbolfigur der Kirche (die im Hohenlied der Bibel beschriebene dunkelhäutige Braut) im Wappen geführt. Auf einem Dreiberg stehend, macht diese Wappenfigur der Grafen von (Fugger-)Kirchberg auch das vom Innenministerium am 11. Juli 1973 mit der Flagge verliehene Wappen der neuen Gemeinde Illerkirchberg „redend". Dieses enthält auch das vom Wappen des Klosters Wiblingen und der früheren Gemeinde Unterkirchberg unter Austausch der Felder abgeleitete Patriarchenhochkreuz. Wiblingen übte einst das Patronatsrecht über die Unterkirchberger Kirche aus.
