Object history
Deutsch: Im Jahre 1266 übergaben die Grafen von Eberstein Besitz in Loffenau an das Zisterzienserkloster Herrenalb, das zu Ende des 13. Jahrhunderts auch die Ortsherrschaft erlangte und diese ausübte, bis der Ort mit dem Kloster 1555 infolge der Reformation württembergisch wurde. Das Wappenbild ist aus dem seit 1526 belegten Fleckenzeichen, einem Gänsefuß, entwickelt. Dieses als dörfliche Erkennungsmarke auch andernorts (siehe unter anderen Au am Rhein, Kieselbronn, Kürnbach) verwendete Motiv wurde stark stilisiert dargestellt, so dass die Deutung als Dreieck mit Abtsstab aufkam, die auch dem von der Gemeinde erbetenen Entwurf der Archivdirektion Stuttgart für das Wappen zugrundegelegt wurde. Dazu bot die ältere Herrschaftsgeschichte einen Anhaltspunkt. Die Farben Silber und Rot befinden sich auch in den Wappen der Herren von Eberstein und der Zisterzienser. Das Wappen und die Flagge wurden vom Innenministerium am 28. März 1961 verliehen.
