Object history
Deutsch: Am 28. September 1482 verlieh Erzherzog Sigismund von Österreich seinen Leuten in der oberen Herrschaft Hohenberg als Anerkennung für finanzielle Hilfe ein Wappen, das von König Maximilian I. 1490 bestätigt wurde: von Rot und Silber geteilt, unten ein halbes goldenes Rad. Es handelt sich um das Wappen der Grafen von Hohenberg in verwechselten Farben, dem das halbe Speichenrad als redendes Symbol für Spaichingen, den Versammlungsort der Gemeinden und wichtigsten Flecken der oberen Herrschaft Hohenberg, hinzugefügt wurde. Spätestens im 18. Jahrhundert verwendete Spaichingen das halbe Rad zusammen mit dem österreichischen Bindenschild im Fleckensiegel. In der ersten Hälfte des 19. Jahrhunderts scheint das noch heute gültige Wappen angenommen worden zu sein, möglicherweise in Zusammenhang mit der Stadtrechtsverleihung im Jahre 1828.
