Object history
Deutsch: Aus dem Jahr 1439 ist der Abdruck eines Siegels überliefert mit einer Gans und einem Fuchs. Die Gans ist dem Wappen der Herren von Hürnheim-Katzenstein entnommen. Sie wurde zum Wappentier der Herren von Treuchtlingen-Möhren. Im Siegel von 1562 steht das Wappen in seiner heutigen Gestalt mit einem sitzenden Fuchs in Feld 2 und 3. Bis 1717 war dieses Wappenbild am Rathaus zu sehen. Das Eisenhutfeh ist aus dem Wappen der Marschälle von Pappenheim, die seit 1447 in Treuchtlingen ansässig waren. Nachdem die Treuchtlinger Linie 1647 ausgestorben war, kam der Markt 1663 an das Fürstenturm Brandenburg-Ansbach. Die markgräfliche Regierung tauschte das Eisenhutfeh 1718 mit einem goldenen Leoparden oder Fuchs im blauen Feld aus. Prinzregent Luitpold bestätigte 1888 das Wappen in der Form bis 1717. Die Herkunft des Fuchses ist unbekannt. Seit 1898 ist Treuchtlingen Stadt.
