Object history Die beiden Gewandnadeln weisen auf die vorgeschichtlichen Funde im Gemeindegebiet hin. Die Doppelradnadeln zählen zu den interessantesten Ausgrabungsstücken. Der mit einer Schrägleiste überdeckte Löwe ist der Bamberger Löwe und erinnert an die lang währende Herrschaft des Hochstifts Bamberg in Zapfendorf von 1390 bis zur Säkularisation 1803. Das Hochstift erwarb den Besitz in Zapfendorf von den Grafen von Truhendingen. Daran erinnern die Farben Rot und Gold aus dem Adelswappen. Zapfendorf ist seit 1955 Markt.
